Welcome to our Caldecott Kids blog. This blog will be used to compile the resources, links, and ideas of a wonderful literacy and technology collaborative project called Caldecott Kids.
“It was late one winter night, long past bedtime, when Pa and I went owling. There was no wind. The trees stood still as giant statues.” The second graders sat enthralled as I read the words from the 1988 Caldecott Award winning book, Owl Moon. Who could guess that their interest in that story would springboard into what is now the third year of the Finch Caldecott Kids project? It was obvious that students would benefit from more exposure to quality literature, so a collaborative team of fifth graders and their language arts teacher was created to design a project to teach the second graders about Caldecott books.
